Mark your calendars! The long-awaited launch of the Global Footwear Future Coalition (GFFC) is set for October 9th in London. This exciting initiative aims to foster a dynamic forum for knowledge exchange among industry stakeholders, including brands, retailers, manufacturers, researchers, and academics. By bringing together these diverse perspectives, the GFFC aims to spark innovation and shape the future direction of footwear.
The official launch will take place at a symposium hosted by Havas Village in London. Throughout the day, attendees can expect a stimulating program featuring keynote speeches and smaller session discussions. Renowned industry expert Daniel Rubin, Founder and Executive Chairman of The Dune Group, will deliver the keynote address, offering his valuable insights on the evolution of footwear and highlighting key challenges and opportunities on the horizon.
The GFFC’s ultimate goal is to create a collaborative community where industry leaders can openly discuss ideas, share knowledge, and explore new ways of working. This collaborative spirit will be further nurtured through the promotion of research and educational opportunities.
The driving force behind the GFFC is a diverse group of like-minded individuals from various sectors across the globe. Their passion for the footwear industry is evident in their commitment to positive change. Among the founders are Darla-Jane Gilroy (British academic and fashion designer), Liz Ciokajlo (3D researcher and lecturer), Alexandra Sherlock (lecturer in fashion and textiles at RMIT University), Joe Kearins (Principal at Gate One), Sarah Byfield-Riches of SBR Partnerships, and Sven Segal (sustainable footwear designer and founder of the Better Shoes Foundation).
